HammondCare needed a solution to issues with their existing poured-in-place surface, as they had experienced significant cracking caused by tree roots penetrating the surface. The trees provided valuable shade; so root pruning was not an option to prevent further damage.
Project Overview:
We aimed to provide a cost-effective yet durable resurfacing solution that would ensure long-term safety compliance, while preserving as much as possible the original surface.
Solution:
To mitigate the damage caused by the tree roots, we removed the affected portion of the surface, approximately 10% of the total damaged area. The remainder of the original surface was retained. We then installed shock pads to enhance safety and applied Play Matta Re-Cover.
Play Matta Re-Cover is specifically designed to rejuvenate worn-out poured-in-place (PIP) surfaces, addressing issues such as cracking, shrinking, and wear. Our solution not only restores safety compliance but also extends the lifespan of the playground surface, reducing the need for expensive patching and repairs.
Outcome:
The implementation of Play Matta Re-Cover proved to be a success for HammondCare's playground. By applying Re-Cover to the tired PIP surfacing, we repurposed waste materials which aligns with our commitment and our clients to sustainability.
