Holloway Park needed a playground upgrade that blended naturally with the surrounding environment. The project required extensive community input, additionally, the site presented logistical challenges ,including limited parking and no alternate footpath access.

Solution

Playground People collaborated closely with Wellington City Council and the local community to create a design that complemented the natural setting. Play Matta was selected for its durability and seamless integration with the park’s play elements. Light green and light grey were chosen to complement the surrounding landscape. Careful planning ensured minimal disruption to the neighborhood, with strict coordination of deliveries and vehicle access.

Outcome

The upgraded playground now offers a safe and inviting space for families while preserving the park’s natural feel. The community’s involvement in the design process ensured a final product that truly reflects their vision.

Wellington City Council has had a long-standing relationship with Matta Products and formerly Playbases. Our most recent project was a small neighbourhood playground at Holloway Road in Aro Valley.
