LifeKidz provides care for kids of all abilities in Auckland. The centre prioritised accessible play by introducing new equipment and safety surfacing, including an inclusive spinner, so kids using wheelchairs could actively participate alongside their peers.

Solution

Play Matta provides a stable, wheelchair-friendly surface that enables seamless movement for children using wheelchairs or crutches. This installation ensures easy access to the inclusive spinner without the need for lifting , allowing children greater independence and freedom in their play. Play Matta is also designed to create accessible pathways, ensuring smooth navigation to and from play areas.

Outcome

The combination of the inclusive spinner supplied by Park Supplies and Play Matta surfacing has transformed playtime for children at Lifekidz. The upgraded playground has been a game-changer for the children as the new surface allows those in wheelchairs—including those using motorized chairs—to move effortlessly from inside the building, across the playground, and straight onto the spinner. This enhances independence, social interaction, and inclusion, helping all children play together.
